The New Blog / Arizona Vaca

I have decided to start a blog to share of the journey of our marriage. I kept up with my 365 blog faithfully for 8 months last year so I'm hoping to be better about this one and it may last longer than that! :)

Our most recent adventure was a road trip to Arizona over our anniversary & 4th of July.

We left on June 30, 2011 and on the way we stopped at Hanging Lake... a hiking trail just outside of Glenwood Springs, CO. It was a very difficult trail up but it was well worth it with the gorgeous site at the top! We had seen this spot as one of the top 10 things to do in Colorado in the 5,280 Magazine! We made it to the top and within minutes it started to down pour rain so we hurried our way to the bottom. However, we were then stuck with sweat and rain drenched clothes for the rest of our driving that day!

We made it to Moab, Utah, specifically Arches National Park. It was extreme beauty in the red rocks and formations. We only spent about 3 hours at the park as we got a later start than our hike and had to set up camp. We got to see a few of the arches but definitely would've liked more time to explore.

We made out way to the Grand Canyon on July 1, 2011 and it was a site to behold. People can truly not describe the beauty here, it must be seen for yourself. When we arrived we found our camp and set up. We were so exhausted from a 5:30 wake up and 6 hours in the car that we took a nap! After waking up in what felt like a sauna... we ventured out for a hike. We took the Bright Angel Trail down a ways and back up, as well a the South Rim Trail. It was simply gorgeous and we even saw a cow elk and a mule deer along the way.

We finally made our way to Peoria, Arizona on July 2, 2011. We spent the next week enjoying my new cousin Logan Miles. Here are my auntie Mary and her fiance Russel with their little man.

Left: We had a great 4th of July and Mary bought us a delicious cookie cake to celebrate our anniversary. We watched fireworks at the Peoria sports complex.
Right: We had a yummy steak, corn on the cob, and watermelon dinner at Mary's.

For our 3rd Anniversary, we went out to lunch with Gram and Gramps at the Elephant Bar. We went out to dinner at Abuelos mexican restaurant to remind us of our honeymoon in Cancun!
